If you are new to Bitcoin poker you are probably also what is known as a poker “fish.” A fish in poker is a nickname for a player who is weak. Fish players are easy to find when playing Bitcoin poker, as they are plentiful, and if you are a newbie you do not want to be labelled at your table as a fish. Fish players are identified and targeted by experienced poker players, and they comprise the majority of their poker profits from fish players. In Bitcoin poker tables, like in RealPoker.net, there are a few types of fish players.
The Bitcoin Poker Fish Player
Fish players aren’t always beginner players; the term simply refers to any player that is not playing well. With this, even experienced highly skilled poker players can become fish players. If you do not play poker “by the book,” or play strategically, and you simply play the game based on odds and luck, you are a fish player. Different players play this way for different reasons.
The Beginner Fish
Novice, first time players of online poker tend to lack skill or an understanding of the game simply because they have not studied it. A lack of experience will prove to be unnecessarily expensive if you enter high stakes Bitcoin poker without some research and understanding of how to win in poker. Beginner fish are easy to spot, doing more gambling than playing, and learning how to play the game as they go along. They will not last long at the table, and their chips will be taken to them soon, so try to exchange with them early and heavy.
The Seasoned Fish
Strong players can become fish too if they are not playing well. One of the most difficult aspects of poker is being required to control your emotions while you play. If you let your emotions affect you and you are thrown off your game, you may become a fish even if you have a lot of practice experience. We are all human and some days it is difficult to find the patience to wait for premium hands, but if you become overly frustrated you could throw money down the toilet.
