A poker dealer is someone who is in charge of ensuring that a poker game runs smoothly. They provide the players with the required necessities that they need to play the game as well as outlining the rules before a game begins. It is also the dealers' responsibility to open and close the table before the games start and after the games are over. There is no doubt that poker dealers make good money in their day to day dealings. This money is from their salary as well as tips that they get from grateful players.

Making Money as a Poker Dealer

Being a poker dealer is not as easy as it sounds and it is not a walk in the park as it requires a great deal of prowess for you to make the highest amount of money. If you are just starting out as a poker dealer, you may get $7 or $8 an hour excluding tips. A dealers' schedule is normally tight as you may work 10 to 15 hours a day which gets easier as you gain experience. After gaining experience, which takes an average of 4 to 5 months, you can start earning $20 to $25 an hour excluding tips.

In a year, a beginner poker dealer can earn up to $15,000 while a professional dealer can make up to $30,000. For a poker dealer, tips are the real moneymakers but you get small or big tips according to how you run the operations. You can make up to $15 worth of tips an hour but if you are a professional, you can make up to $50. Including tips, a poker dealer can make an average of $35,000 to $70,000 year. For you to get big tips, you should be able to make the players feel good and make the game fun for them.

The amount of money from tips that you make can also depend on the poker games that you are dealing, your likability, and the generosity of the players. Some players can be naturally generous while others even after winning big can be stingy. Dealing for large-stakes players or VIP players in the VIP room can also mean more tips coming your way. If you are an aspiring or a beginner poker dealer, here are a few tips that can propel you to earn more money out of this profession.

Ensure that you are good at mathematics to an extent that you can quickly add or minus numbers off head. This will be of great help as a player can need you to calculate for them real quick and also when handling large sums of money. You should also look good while dealing and by this it means that you should clean up well. Do not apply very sharp perfume as not everybody can tolerate it and this could make players uncomfortable.

Ensure that you are good at

You should work on ensuring that you have your unique look and style that distinguishes you from other dealers and this can help with your popularity as a dealer. Being able to speak a few foreign languages like German, Spanish, French, etc can also be of importance in ensuring that you get more money. For instance, if you are dealing and there are one or two Spanish poker players present who do not understand English, they would be very pleased if you can engage them in Spanish.

This will mean more tips from them and you will also be their favorite dealer. Also, you should work on being fast with your hands. With dedication, passion, and practice, this is a trick that you can learn in weeks. It is important as players will not appreciate a dealer who takes so much of their time when dealing for them.

From the above information, it is evident that being a poker dealer can bring in good money hence making it a good profession. Being a poker dealer is a serious job as it demands a lot from you like your time and energy as most times, dealers stand up when dealing. You might also sacrifice some of your sleeping time but, eventually, you will reap the benefits. It is not only about making money but also tricks on how to be the best dealer and make more money in this field.
